Hospitals are the safe place of care, the haven you are taken to after the danger. They are full of generous caretakers, thoughtful visitors, and thankful patients.
Healthcare systems are a vital and fundamental part of a local community, making them potential targets for those looking to cause harm to that community, both physically and psychologically. They are also open to the public and can consist of expansive campuses full of large hospital buildings with dozens of egress points. It’s difficult to grasp how to guard them against terrorism, but with a few manageable precautions, there are ways security directors can protect them.
