Hurricane season, which officially starts in June, can loom large on the minds of emergency management officials. Joe Cappiello, BSN, MA, chair of Cappiello & Associates, advises safety and security directors to remember the potential security vulnerabilities the hospital can find itself in during and after natural disasters. He says to think of the storms in three levels: pre-­disaster, during the disaster, and post-disaster.
