Workers with TB blame poor installation in a hospital

Seven hospital workers in West Virginia have sued their employer after they tested positive for tuberculosis (TB) on the job in recent years.
The workers' lawsuit claims that when Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley, WV, installed a new air conditioning system in TB isolation rooms in 2001, the project compromised a negative air flow system in the facility, according to The Register-Herald in Beckley. Negative air pressure keeps organisms within the isolation room and out of the rest of the hospital.
A former state senator first brought the Pinecrest allegations to public attention and demanded an investigation, the newspaper reported.
