Bicycle units have started popping up at hospitals after security departments discovered that these units can cover more territory than cars and trucks for less money while allowing officers to be more accessible. Even as bicycle patrols become more commonplace, some hospitals are testing out new, high-tech transportation devices such as the Segway and the American Chariot.
