In November 2006, the manager of a Jacksonville, FL, hospital pharmacy was shot and killed. According to the Florida Times-Union, a customer who suffered from mental health problems shot the 37-year-old pregnant mother of two, who had worked at the pharmacy since 2002. 

In April, a pharmacy technician at Long Beach (CA) Memorial Medical Center allegedly shot and killed two people and then himself, according to the Los Angeles Times, which also reported that the technician had recently heard rumors of pending layoffs.
