A hospital in Schenectady, NY, used its decontamination unit to wash down nine firefighters and ambulance workers on Tuesday after a response to an industrial accident in the city.

 

Ellis Hospital set up the decon unit in its parking lot after the emergency responders suffered exposures to hydrogen sulfide, a byproduct of sewage, according to the Daily Gazette of Schenectady.

 

Emergency crews had responded to an accident where two workers from a local company were overcome by hydrogen sulfide fumes when they entered a tanker truck, the Gazette reported. Those workers were in critical condition at Ellis Hospital as of Tuesday night.
