Joint Commission: 2009 standards to be posted online in July

In what will hopefully amount to advanced warning for safety officers, The Joint Commission has noted that it will post final versions of 2009 standards online sometime around July 1.
Expect PDF versions of the new standards prior to their publication in the print version of the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH), according to the current issue of Joint Commission Online. The accreditor indicated it will also post a crosswalk between the old and new standards.
As of January 1, 2009, the EC chapter in the CAMH will split into revised EC standards, a new life safety chapter, and a new emergency management chapter.
